Let’s Talk About the Brain

Lausanne, Switzerland

Book Club get together in Lausanne, Switzerland

About once a month, on a Thursday, we meet in a small group at DIFF Bistro—a welcoming café in Lausanne—to exchange ideas and learn about the brain, while also getting to know and understand one another better.

What if the true heroes of the brain aren’t the ones we thought they were?
In *L’Homme glial* (The Glial Human), Yves Agid and Pierre Magistretti reveal the surprising role of glial cells.

Long overlooked, these cells play an essential part in how the brain functions; they are involved in regulating our emotions and thoughts, and even play a role in certain brain-related diseases.

Accessible, fascinating, and full of examples, this book invites us to shift how we view ourselves and our own brains.

The book serves as a foundation for our discussions and includes many small illustrations to help explain the concepts.

Even if you haven’t read the book, you are more than welcome to join us! You don’t need to be an avid reader or have any prior knowledge of neuroscience—all you need is curiosity! This friendly group is open to anyone who would like to join us as we kick off the new season.

Why participate?

Stimulate your curiosity by exploring concrete, exciting topics.
- Discover and discuss ideas based on a book, supplemented by videos, podcasts, and images.
- Share your own knowledge and perspectives.
- Meet others with an interest in neuroscience and mental health.
- The group is open to individuals living with a mental health condition.

While this is not a support group focused on illness, it offers a space to connect, learn together, and broaden your horizons.

These meetings may also lead to opportunities to participate in SYNERGIES projects with *Meeting for Minds*. Feel free to explore the films from our previous projects, created in collaboration with researchers and individuals living with mental health conditions (PLEX) in Switzerland and Australia.
